Kitties for Christmas

Oh my goodness, I've done it! I don't know about you, I'm guessing that I'm in the minority here, but even though I make cards the people in my family hardly ever get them. Scratch that, I almost never have a card to go with a gift.

This year we're trying something new. In my attempts to be done with everything shopping and gift giving before the 1st week of December (ambitious right?), I am adding making cards to the list of things to do. My father owns his own hobby store that I end up helping out in, and I get plenty of last minute 'oh, we need a flyer for such and such event that is happening tomorrow' to fill my time. This year I just want to be done so I can enjoy the season and bake without other obligations.

On that note, Card for brother: Check!
My brother LOVES cats, I do too, but he is a 100% cat person. Sadly he lives in an apartment right now and works long hours which means he can't keep a cat.

A very simple card this time, though trying to figure out what I was doing with this image was a beast! This is another image where I just didn't give myself enough room to use a die cut. I tried out endless combinations with all my different Christmas papers, nothing worked. Finally, I had the idea to do a layered frame, and once I found the red paper with gold embossing I was set. Even better I found some black velvet ribbon that fit perfectly through my buckle die!

The frame was made with Gold embossing that I also used on the die cut and to frame the 'Merry Christmas'. Yes, we have another image from Lili of the Valley. Yes, I do own images from other companies and I will get to using them, I just have a ton of Christmas stamps and digi's from LOTV so why not use them?

  1. Oh my word those kitties are oh so sweet and beautifully colored too! :) I love the touches of gold around the edges! :) I know your brother will like it too!

About your question on Splitcoaststampers, I will have to reply to you here because I didn't see an e-mail on your profile or blog where I can contact you.

Splitcoaststampers (SCS) is basically just a community where lots of other stampers like you and me gather together to not only "chat" about stamping and many other crazy things, but you can post any of your projects you make to your own gallery, there are challenges every single day for you to try and get ideas from others. They also hold special events like the "Falliday Fest" event they just had where you join in challenges, see tutorials, join the chatter, view recipes from others and win prizes! It is a huge forum that has been around for many years. Before blogs were a "thing", this is where I actually started joining in socially for sharing my creations...so I'm very familiar with it. I am also part of the "Dirty Dozen" Design Team there which includes a dozen of us creating several projects in a gallery with a theme in mind every month. This viewing is exclusive for fan club members only.

Anyway, it is a rather very large community with a forum FULL of many different things and if you're not used to it, it can be quite confusing. You don't need to pay anything to start posting there, you just have to create an account. There are challenges every day on the front page of the website. Just scroll down to where you see the days of the week and click on something you may be interested in. It's a good idea to have a look around in the gallery section too for ideas. It may take you a bit to figure out how to maneuver around the site, but once you get the hang of it, you may find you like it. :)

If you need any further help with it, just let me know! My SCS name is basement stamper!
    Have a great day!
